Ground Investigation surveys

As part of developing the route of the HS2 high speed railway, we are carrying out ground investigation surveys in a number of locations in the Euston area.

The work is being carried out on our behalf by Thames Water contractors as we are surveying the utility services located under the road surface in these roads with a view to diverting an existing trunk water main along them.

The next stage of these works involves digging trenches in the following locations:

  • In three locations in the southern part of Redhill Street starting on 26 January 2017 and due to be completed by 9 February 2017
  • In four locations along Albany Street taking place between 2 February and 20 March
  • In two locations in Cumberland Market starting on 10 February and due to be completed by 24 February
  • View detail maps of surveys:

The activity involves closing the road and suspending parking spaces on Redhill Street and Cumberland Market and a bus stop will be moved on Albany Street. We will be digging holes in the road, accurately locating the existing utility services and taking samples, then restoring the road surface. All appropriate steps will be taken to restrict any disruption. Residential, pedestrian and vehicular access may be affected during the works. Traffic diversions and traffic management measures will be in place.

We will erect temporary screening around each trial trench, clad with acoustic blankets to keep noise to a minimum. Our contractor will work as quickly as they can, avoid unnecessary noise and keep the area tidy. Camden Council has granted the necessary permissions for these works, with restrictions to minimise noise and reduce the impact on traffic. Once work is complete, our contractor will restore the area as soon as possible.

We apologise in advance for any disturbance caused.
