Ground investigation works - Barnby Street, Eversholt Street and Wellesley House

Ground investigation works will start from 18 September on Barnby Street and Eversholt Street.

Works in the northern courtyard of Wellesley House (off Wellesley Place) will start from 25 September.

The works in Wellesley House courtyard had originally been scheduled to start on 18 September, but have been delayed by a week.

The works on Barnby Street and Eversholt Street are expected to take around 5 weeks to complete. The works in the northern courtyard of Wellesley House are expected to take around 3 weeks to complete.

The works on Eversholt Street will be on the western pavement, opposite No. 56, and also near the pedestrian entrance to Euston Station.

The pavement width on Eversholt Street at the works will be reduced to 2.4m. There will be parking bay suspensions on Barnby Street.

There will be overnight work on Eversholt Street for one night for about 3 hours in the week commencing 16 October, to assess the road structure. Drilling to break the surface should not last more than 30 minutes.

What are we doing:

Typical works take place week days between 8am and 6pm with an additional half hour at the start and again at the end of the day to set up and clear away. The works will involve digging an inspection pit and using equipment to drill a borehole to take samples or measurements. Once the work is complete, our contractor will reinstate the area to its previous condition. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.

Further details of what ground investigation works entail are contained within the non-technical guide.

What to expect:

  • Background noise from digging service inspection pits, drilling boreholes and the use of water pumps
  • Hoarding around the sites
  • Contractor vehicle movements to and from sites
  • Traffic management systems when the site is located on the public highway.
