Ground Investigation Works - Euston Square Gardens, Melton Street and Euston Road.

Ground investigation works (including utility trial holes) in Euston Square Gardens (western side - to the left if facing the station) and utility trial holes on Melton Street (at the junction with Euston Road) will start from 28 September. The works are estimated to take around eight weeks to complete.

Ground investigation works on Euston Road will start from early October . The works are estimated to take around four weeks to complete.

There will be overnight work on Euston Road for one night for about 3 hours in the week commencing 9 October, to assess the road structure. Drilling to break the surface should not last more than 30 minutes.

Traffic management will be in place on Melton Street, near the junction with Euston Road. There will be single lane and footpath closures, but the road will remain open. The pedestrian crossing near the junction will be temporarily relocated further along Melton Street.

What are we doing: Typical works take place week days between 8am and 6pm, and Saturdays between 8am and 1pm, with an additional half hour at the start and again at the end of the day to set up and clear away.

The works will involve digging an inspection pit and using equipment to drill a borehole to take samples or measurements. Once the work is complete, our contractor will reinstate the area to its previous condition. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.

Further details of what ground investigation works entail are contained within the non-technical guide.

Utility trial holes will help us to understand what utilities may be affected by the works , so that we can maintain existing services and avoid unnecessary service interruptions.

What to expect: Background noise from digging service inspection pits, drilling boreholes and the use of water pumps. Hoarding around the sites. Contractor vehicle movements to and from sites. Traffic management systems when the site is located on the public highway.
