News on HS2 in Camden

Ground investigation and trial holes until December 2021

We are progressing ground investigations at Euston Road and Doric Way as well as beginning trial holes at various locations – at the east side of Euston Square Gardens, Melton St, Cobourg St, Euston St, North Gower St, former Maria Fidelis school site and Hampstead Rd.

Hoardings installation and refurbishment until August 2021

We have begun works to widen the pedestrian walkway along the Drummond Street corridor, and we will replace the existing hoardings and lighting, including installing new graphics and planters on the junction of Cobourg Street.

Relocation of London Underground Traction Substation enabling works April – mid June

To facilitate the construction of the proposed HS2 station we will relocate the current London Underground vent shaft and substation at Melton Street to our site at the former Wolfson House. Site enabling works will begin at the end of April 2021 for approximately six weeks and the main construction works will continue until 2024.

Pile cropping (trimming) & upper wall construction west of Euston station, April – October 2021

We are continuing piling activities to construct an upper wall, which will extend the previously installed western basement retaining wall at the former National Temperance Hospital site.

Central reservation removal on Hampstead Road - phase 1, 17 May to 14 June

Following community feedback, we now have agreement with Transport for London to create a right turn out of our Hampstead Road worksite, meaning lorries can avoid using Harrington Square as a turning loop to head south to Euston Road. To create this right turn, we will remove the central reservation Hampstead Road. Works will take place in three phases. For more information please see the work item .
