National Temperance Hospital construction works update

Due to some unforeseen delays, the programme for construction works at the National Temperance Hospital has been slightly extended. We now expect the demolition works to be completed by the end of June 2017, however we will aim to finish earlier if possible.

The remaining demolition works at the main Vezey-Strong Wing are expected to be finished in early May. Then we will start backfilling the spaces beneath ground and making the area level.

Once that work is finished the hoarding will be set back to the original site boundary.

All demolition works are taking place behind a fully protected scaffold, using a combination of mechanical techniques. As soon as the upper floors have been removed from the structure, the scaffold is lowered and an excavator will carefully demolish the rest of the structure down to ground level.

The demolition materials from the works are processed and removed from site for reuse and recycling.

We will continue to use best practicable means and working practices put in place by Camden Council for the duration of the works. We remain committed to keeping any disruption to a minimum.

If you would like to find out more about HS2 construction works in the Camden area, you can drop in to the next open evening on the 20 April, 6-8pm at our information centre: HS2 in Euston, Collective Temperance Hospital, 110 Hampstead Road, NW1 2LS.
