New ground investigation site- Euston Square Gardens

As part of developing the route design of the railway, we are carrying out ground investigation surveys in Euston Square Gardens for approximately 5 days between 24 May and mid-July (exact dates are not yet confirmed).

This work is taking place in the western part of the gardens (to the left, if facing the station).

This type of survey helps us to understand more about the ground where we want to build the railway. It’s vital that we know about the ground conditions before construction begins so we can build effectively.

All works are expected to take place week days only between 8am and 6pm with an additional half hour at the start and again at the end of the day to set up and clear away. The work will involve digging an inspection pit and using equipment to drill a borehole to take samples or measurements. Once the work is complete, our contractor will reinstate the area to its existing condition. We recognsie the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.

What to expect

  • Background noise from digging trial pits, drilling boreholes and the use of water pumps
  • Hoardings around the site
  • Contractor vehicle movements to and from the site
