As part of developing the route of the HS2 high speed railway, we will be carrying out ground investigation surveys on Albany Street and Cumberland Market starting from 24th October 2016.
View the locations of the ground investigation surveys:
The work will be carried out on our behalf by Thames Water contractors as we will be surveying the utility services located under the road surface in these roads with a view to diverting an existing trunk water main along them.
We may need to dig trenches in the road surface:
Work will then move to locations in Redhill Street, Robert Street, Osnaburgh Street and Park Village East but we will send out notice to properties in these roads before the work is carried out. There will be a temporary site compound for the works at the corner of Redhill and Albany Streets.
The road surface will be restored before moving to the next location. Residential, pedestrian and vehicular access will be maintained at all times. Our contractor will work as quickly as they can, avoid unnecessary noise and keep the area tidy.
We will erect temporary screening around each trial trench, clad with acoustic blankets to keep noise to a minimum.
We will work with the local community to avoid peak use times, especially around Christ Church School. Works that will affect pupils will take place during the school holiday period (weeks commencing Monday 24th October and Monday 19th December).
Once work is complete, our contractor will restore the area as soon as possible. We apologise in advance for many disturbance caused.
How will this affect me?
The activity involves digging holes in the road, taking samples then restoring the road surface. All appropriate steps will be taken to restrict disruption.
When is this happening?
Work starts 24th October 2016 until 23rd December 2016 , 8am until 5pm, Monday to Friday. We’ll be on site 30mins before and after these times, but we will not break the road surface before 9am.
How can I find out more?
We are holding trial trenches drop-in events at HS2 in Euston (address overleaf) on:
Thursday 20th October 4-7pm
Thursday 3rd November 4-7pm and
Saturday 5th November 10am-2pm.
Will roads be closed?
No. We will implement a traffic management system to ensure the safety of workers but roads will not be closed completely. Digging of all the trial trenches may not be required depending on what buried services are found.
