News on HS2 in Camden

The work will be carried out on our behalf by Thames Water contractors as we will be surveying the utility services located under the road surface in these roads with a view to diverting an existing trunk water main along them. This will require us to dig trenches in the road surface at two locations at the north end of Park Village East (Parkway end). Depending on the results of the buried services, a further trial hole in the same area may also be needed. If so, this would take place in January 2017.

As part of developing the route of the HS2 high speed railway, we will be carrying out ground investigation surveys. This will include up to 3 trial holes and a borehole on Park Village East starting from 5 December 2016 , subject to the necessary approvals from Camden Council.

How will this affect me?

The activity involves closing the road and suspending parking spaces. We will be digging holes in the road, accurately locating the existing utility services and taking samples, then restoring the road surface. All appropriate steps will be taken to restrict any disruption. Residential, pedestrian and vehicular access may be affected during the works.

We will erect temporary screening around each trial trench, clad with acoustic blankets to keep noise to a minimum.

Our contractor will work as quickly as they can, avoid unnecessary noise and keep the area tidy. Once work is complete, our contractor will restore the area as soon as possible.

When is this happening?

Work starts on 5 December 2016 and will continue until 19 December 2016. Working hours are between 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5.30pm on Saturday 10 and 17 December if required.

We will not break the road surface before 9am.

Will roads be closed?

The north of Park Village East will be closed temporarily. We will implement a traffic management system to ensure the safety of residents and workers and allow vehicles to access Park Village East from the south.
