Notice of utility works - London Zoo Gloucester Slips car park

What are we doing?

As part of developing the route of the HS2 high speed railway, we need to carry out utility diversion works including the diversion of a water main.

To support this work Thames Water will be establishing a construction site within the London Zoo Gloucester Slips car park from 27 September 2017, not the start of July 2017 as previously planned. This site is expected to be in place until July 2019.

A solid hoarding will be erected around the eastern part of the car park area as shown in red on the plan. An ecological mitigation plan has been developed in consultation with ZSL which includes measures to protect hedgehogs.

Once the hoarding is in place, a site office will be installed and plant and materials will be stored in the compound for the duration of the works.

Towards the end of this year, utility diversion works will be taking place within the site. We will write to you nearer the time to provide more information about these works.

The compound will be mainly on the car parking area although in the future when construction starts, some trees will need to be removed to allow the works to be carried out. Thames Water and HS2 Ltd are working closely with The Royal Parks and London Zoo to agree how the area will be reinstated in the best interests of the local ecology.

How will this affect me?

We will erect hoarding around the site which will be coloured dark green. We will work as quickly as we can, avoid unnecessary noise and keep the area tidy. We apologise in advance for any disturbance caused.
