Temporary footpath closure and scaffolding installation at the Insull Wing

*13 June 18 - amendment - the installation of scaffolding has been delayed, and will now start from 5 July.

As part of developing the route design of the HS2 high speed railway, we are continuing the deconstruction of the Insull Wing building on Hampstead Road from now until February 2019.

A scaffold will be erected around the building from mid-June. This will include a scaffold covered walkway in front of the building.

The installation of the scaffolding will start from mid-June and is expected to take two weeks.

To ensure safe pedestrian movements in front of the building the following traffic management will apply:

  • The footpath on Hampstead Road between Cardington Street and the Margarete Centre will be temporarily closed for the first five days of work
  • The footpath on the opposite side of Hampstead Road will remain open as usual and temporary pedestrian diversion signs will be in place
  • Hampstead Road will remain open
  • Once the scaffold covered walkway is erected in front of the building, the footpath will be reopened for pedestrian use. We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause.
