Update on ground investigation surveys

As part of developing the route of the HS2 high speed railway, we are carrying out ground investigationsurveys. This includes digging a trial hole at Gloucester Gate Bridge between 10 February and 20 February.

The work is being carried out on our behalf by Thames Water contractors as we are surveying the utility services located under the road surface in these roads with a view to diverting an existing trunk water main along them.

The ground investigation involves temporary traffic lights to manage the effects on the road junction. This work is taking place over half term to reduce disruption and our contractors will work over both weekends to complete the trial hole as quickly as possible.

  • Working hours are between 7.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday.
  • Sunday 11 and 19 February between 9.30am to 5.30pm
  • We will also be carrying out non-intrusive CCTV (closed-circuit television) surveys of the sewers via existing manholes for one evening between 22 and 24 February.
