Utility diversion works - London Zoo carpark

As part of developing the route of the HS2 high speed railway, we need to carry out utility diversion works including the diversion of a water main.

To support this work Thames Water will be establishing a construction site within the London Zoo Gloucester Slips car park in July 2017. This site is expected to be in place until July 2019.

A temporary fence and then solid hoarding will be erected around the eastern part of the car park area. An ecological mitigation plan has been developed in consultation with ZSL which includes measures to protect hedgehogs.

Once the hoarding is in place, a site office will be installed and plant and materials will be stored in the compound for the duration of the works.

Towards the end of this year, utility diversion works will be taking place within the site.

The compound will be mainly on the car parking area although in the future when construction starts, some trees will need to be removed to allow the works to be carried out. Thames Water and HS2 Ltd are working closely with The Royal Parks and London Zoo to agree how the area will be reinstated in the best interests of the local ecology.

The solid hoarding around the site will be coloured dark green. We will work as quickly as we can, avoid unnecessary noise and keep the area tidy. We apologise in advance for any disturbance caused.
