Utility trial holes - Gordon Street and Melton Street

As part of developing the route design of the HS2 high speed railway, we are carrying out utility trial holes in Gordon Street and Melton Street in April.

These works will enable us to establish precisely where utilities and services are located beneath the road's surface.

From 3 to 19 April two trial holes will be carried out on Gordon Street between Euston Road and the crossroads of Gower Place and Endsleigh Gardens. The works will take place in both the footpath and road, one lane at a time with alternating single lane closures in place including parking bay suspensions. Traffic management will be in place and Gordon Street will remain open during the works.

From 9 to 23 April one trial hole will be carried out on Melton Street. The works will take place on both the footpath and road, this will involve work taking place one lane at a time with alternating single lane closures in place including parking bay suspensions. Traffic management will be in place and Melton Street will remain open during the works.

  • Normal working hours: Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, Saturdays 8am-1pm
  • Our contractors may also be on site for an hour before the start and/or at the end of each shift
  • The initial breaking-up of the road will be the noisiest activity, although this will be intermittent and not continuous. We will erect temporary screening clad with acoustic panels to reduce noise, working as quickly as possible and keeping work areas tidy.

There will be no disruption to utility services because of these works. We would like to apologise for any disruption these works may cause.
