Utility trial holes planned for Phoenix Road

*Update- 11 May 18 - The works on the footpath near the Avis garage have been postpoed until July, the new dates will be confirmed in due course.

*Update - 11 May 18 - Phoenix Road at the junction with Chalton street will be closed from 14 May until 31 May. The footpath will remain open; there will be traffic diversion signs in place.

Utility trial hole surveys are planned along Phoenix Road during the 12 to 31st May .

The surveys will involve temporary holes being dug which will enable us to establish where utilities and services are located beneath the road surface.

For the duration of the works the followign traffic management measures will be in place:

  • There will be a footpath closure adjacent to the Avis Garage
  • There will be a partial road closure and parking bay suspension near the Fine Tutors Centre, the footpath will remain open.
  • There will be traffic and pedestrian diversion in place.
  • The initial digging/breaking out of the road will be the noisiest activity, although this will be intermittent and not continuous. We will erect screening clad with acoustic panels to reduce noise.

There will be no disrutption to utility services as a consequence of these works. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.
