Utility trial holes; Cobourg Street, Drummond Street and Robert Street

* The works on Robert Street have been delayed, and will now take place from 8-15 May.

As part of developing the route design of the HS2 high speed railway, we are carrying out utility trial holes in Cobourg Street, Drummond Street and Robert Street.

Duration of works:

  • Robert Street from early March expected to be completed by late March
  • Cobourg Street from late March expected to be completed by late April
  • Drummond Street from late March expected to be completed by late April
  • Normal working hours: Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, Saturdays 8am-1pm
  • Our contractors may also be on site for an hour before the start and/or at the end of each shift
  • The works on Robert Street will be near the junction with Hampstead Road outside the Woodhall flats and the Surma Community Centre.

There will be two trial holes on Cobourg Street which are around the junctions of Drummond Street and Starcross Street.

There will be two trial holes on Drummond Street which are around the junctions of Cobourg Street and Melton Street.

The works will need alternating single lane and footpath closures. There will be traffic management measures in place including two way temporary traffic lights. Cobourg Street, Drummond Street and Robert Street will remain open during the works.

The initial breaking out of the road will be the noisiest activity, although this will be intermittent and not continuous. We will erect temporary screening clad with acoustic panels to reduce noise. We will work as quickly as we can and keep the area tidy.

There will be no disruption to utility services as a consequence of these works. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.
