Utility trial holes; Delancey Street and Albert Street

As part of developing the route design of the HS2 high speed railway, we are carrying out utility trial hole surveys in Delancey Street and Albert Street throughout July .

The surveys will involve temporary holes being dug which will enable us to establish where utilities and services are located beneath the road surface.

The trial holes will take place within the carriageways located on Delancey Street from 11 to 26 July and those located on Albert Street from 12 to 27 July .

The following traffic management measures will be in place to allow Delancey Street and Albert Street to remain open during the works:

  • The works will take place in the carriageways with one lane open to traffic at all times during the works
  • Footpaths will remain open
  • Parking bays on Delancey Street and Albert Street will be suspended to ensure a safe working site is established.
  • The initial breaking out of the road will be the noisiest activity, although this will be intermittent. We will erect temporary screening clad with acoustic panels to reduce noise, working as quickly as possible and keep work areas tidy. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.
