Utility trial holes; Euston Road

*These works have been delayed. New details will be provided shortly.

As part of developing the route design of the HS2 high speed railway, we are carrying out utility trial hole surveys in Euston Road.

The surveys will involve temporary holes being dug which will enable us to establish where utilities and services are located beneath the road surface.

How will this affect you?

The temporary trial holes will be dug in three locations in Euston Road, with different phases of work taking place on alternate sides of Euston road. Some work will take place during normal working hours and some will be carried out during two weekends including night working.

What to expect

  • Traffic management measures will be in place
  • South side footpath closures: 18 – 23 April and partial footpath closure 5- 7 May
  • North side footpath closures: 24 – 27 April and partial footpath closure 21 – 23 April
  • The sites will be secured with construction fencing
  • Acoustic panels will be used to reduce noise
  • For the duration of the works the following traffic management will apply:

  • The footpath will remain open on one side of the road at a time to allow pedestrian access
  • Traffic diversions will be in place
  • The initial digging/breaking out of the road will be the noisiest activity, although this will be intermittent and not continuous. We will erect screening clad with acoustic panels to reduce noise. We will work as quickly as we can and keep road closures to a minimum. We will keep our work area tidy.

There will be no disruption to utility services as a consequence of these works. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.
