Utility trial holes; Euston Street and Gordon Street

*update 06Jun18 - Works on Euston Street are ongoing until 8 June 2018. The works will continue to take place in both the footpath and road, one lane at a time with alternating single lane closures.

As part of developing the route design of the HS2 high speed railway, we are carrying out a utility trial hole survey in Euston Street from mid- May and two trial holes surveys in Gordon Street from the end of May to mid-June.

The surveys will involve temporary holes being dug which will enable us to establish where utilities and services are located beneath the road surface.

The surveys in Euston Street will be carried out from 22 to 29 May in the road and footpath outside Walkden House. Four parking bays outside Walkden House will be suspended and the road width will be reduced. The opposite footpath will remain open during the works.

  • Normal working hours: Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, Saturdays 8am-1pm
  • Our contractors may also be on site for an hour before the start and/or at the end of each shift
  • We previously notified you that in April we would be carrying out two trial holes on Gordon Street between Euston Road and the crossroads of Gower Place and Endsleigh Gardens. Due to unavoidable delays, these will now be taking place from 30 May to 15 June .

Both trial holes will take place in the footpath and road, one lane at a time with the alternate lane remaining open. Parking bays will be suspended outside Drayton House on Gordon Street and opposite Wates House in Endsleigh Gardens. Traffic management will be in place.

The initial breaking out of the road will be the noisiest activity, although this will be intermittent. We will erect temporary screening clad with acoustic panels to reduce noise, work as quickly as possible and keep work areas tidy.

There will be no disruption to utility services because of these works. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.
