Utility trial holes; Gower Place

As part of developing the route design of the HS2 high speed railway, we are carrying out utility trial hole surveys in Gower Place from 24 April until early May 2018

The surveys will involve temporary holes being dug which will enable us to establish where utilities and services are located beneath the road surface.

  • Normal working hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm, Saturdays 8am - 1pm
  • Our contractors may also be on site for an hour before the start and/or at the end of each shift
  • What to expect

  • Traffic management measures will be in place
  • The footpath will be open with reduced width
  • The sites will be secured with construction fencing
  • Acoustic panels will be used to reduce noise
  • The trial holes will be dug in the road and on the footpath in Gower Place.

For the duration of the works the following traffic management will apply:

  • The road will be closed to through traffic
  • The footpath will remain open with reduced width to allow pedestrian access
  • Traffic diversions will be in place
  • The initial digging/breaking out of the road will be the noisiest activity, although this will be intermittent and not continuous. We will erect screening clad with acoustic panels to reduce noise. We will work as quickly as we can and keep road closures to a minimum. We will keep our work area tidy.

There will be no disruption to utility services as a consequence of these works. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.
