Utility trial holes; Granby Terrace Bridge, Stanhope Street and Hampstead Road

THE WORKS ON STANHOPE STREET HAVE BEEN DELAYED. NEW DATES WILL BE POSTED SHORTLY.

THE WORKS ON HAMPSTEAD ROAD ARE DUE TO START ON 18 DECEMBER.

As part of developing the route design of the HS2 high speed railway, we will be carrying out utility trial holes on Granby Terrace Bridge, Stanhope Street and Hampstead Road.

These trial holes will help us to understand what utilities may be affected by the works, so that we can maintain existing services and avoid unnecessary service interruptions.

Duration of works

  • Granby Terrace Bridge from 22 November 2017 expected to be completed in mid December 2017 . Granby Terrace Bridge will be closed from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday for the duration of the works
  • Stanhope Street from early January 2018 expected to be completed by late January 2018
  • Hampstead Road from 18 December 2017 expected to be completed by late January 2018
  • Normal working hours: Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, Saturdays 8am-1pm
  • Work will be suspended over Christmas, from 22 December - 2 January
  • Our contractors may also be on site for an hour before the start and/or at the end of each shift

There will be a road closure on Granby Terrace Bridge between Hampstead Road and Park Village East, from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, with traffic diversions in place for the duration of the works. Access will be maintained for residents on Harrington Street and Granby Terrace will be reopened from 7pm to 7am.

The works on Stanhope Street will be around the junctions of Park Village East, Mackworth Street and Varndell Street. This will require alternating single lane and footpath closures. There will be traffic management measures in place including two way temporary traffic lights and Stanhope Street will remain open.

On Hampstead Road, the works will be carried out around the Granby Terrace junction, with single lane and footpath closures. Hampstead Road will remain open.

    What to expect

  • The sites will be secured with construction fencing
  • Acoustic panels will be used to reduce noise
  • Temporary traffic management measures will be in place
  • The initial breaking out of the road will be the noisiest activity, although this will be intermittent and not continuous. We will erect temporary screening clad with acoustic panels to reduce noise. We will work as quickly as we can and keep the area tidy.

There will be no disruption to utility services during these works.

Once the works are complete, our contractor will reinstate the area. We recognise the disturbance this work can create and apologise in advance.
